Some of you will have come across the frustrating issue with condensate pump failures, and it’s even more frustrating that we field-trialed the pumps in the early days of Sapphire without any failures, and the few initial trial sites still have the same pump running 5 years later without issue.
We don’t manufacture condensate pumps, but the association that it was fitted to the boiler was enough for us to have some very strong conversations with the manufacturer, and now they have an improved version with upgraded diaphragm materials available on our price list.
However, some returned failed condensate pumps did have what appears to be neat fuel within the units.
Therefore If you do fit a Sapphire with a condensate pump, we strongly advise commissioning the boiler initially, once commissioned, then wash out the condensate trap, refill and connect the condensate pump, and then adjust burner again slightly if required, This way you are not putting neat fuel through the pump if you have an couple of failed ignition cycles on set up.
Also, please note that where height isn’t an issue, we offer an internal boiler plinth to increase height to aid in connecting the condensate discharge to a suitable drain/stack.
